After
reading about the recovery of Hermes 1937 UB and seeing
that it was relatively bright I planned to capture it
on film using my new 8" F5 Sky-Watcher telescope.
Plotting the path of Hermes using GUIDE 8, I decided to
use SAO 128868 as my guide star on 26 October 2003. The
asteroid has quite close to Earth and moving relatively
fast compared to the background stars. I decided to take
4 photos of 10 minuts each and spaced about 30 minutes appart.
The images below are the results of my attempt.

This
picture is a composite
image of 4 photos I look of the recently recovered Asteroid
Hermes (1937 UB) on 26 October 2003. The photos were taken
about 30 min apart with an exposure time of 10 min for
each photo. Although my tracking was not that great I
still managed to capture the path as it moved for the
period of 10 minutes. See
image for more info.
